Imam Prof. Dr. Salah Elsawy

Imam Dr. Salah AlSawy is an Egyptian born in Fazarah village He completed memorizing the Holy Qur`an at the age of seven. He took the first place in a national contest for Qur`an memorization in 1962 in Egypt.In 1976, he completed his bachelor degree in the faculty of Legislation and Law in Al Azhar University.In 1985, he earned his PhD in Islamic Religious Sciences at the faculty of Legislation and Law. He earned his degree with distinction and the highest level honors. Dr. Salah’s experience entails working as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Legislation and Law at Al-Azhar University. An assistant professor at Umm Al Qura University. Director for the Scientific Miracle Association of the Islamic World League. Director for the Legislative Research Center of the office of the Islamic World League in Islamabad. A visiting professor in the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Sciences in Washington.Director in the Legislative Research Center in United States of America. Vice-President of the American Open University since it was opened in 1995 till 2004, and legislative consultant/adviser for Dar Al-Salam in Maryland. Currently, Dr. Salah is the Secretary General for the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America. His accomplishments vary from participating in many Islamic conferences about Islamic da`wah in general and particularly in the field of the scientific miracle in Qur`an and Sunnah in Saudi Arabia, Cairo, Islamabad, Britain, America, Kenya, Senegal and other world countries. He held numerous specialized jurisprudential workshops in the fields of legislative politics, guidance of Islamic awakening and in the fields of Doctrine, Jurisprudence and Creed in the UK and US a number of African countries.Supervised the project of intellectual heritage facilitation which aims at spreading the utilization of heritage books of by rendering their material concise thus achieving their objectives and also re-organizing their contents and adding commentary where needed. Supervised the project of “Towards a Proper Understanding for the Daa`iyahs Methodologies” which aims to eliminate misconceptions that surrounded many practical and theoretical methodologies of some Daa`iyahs. Dr. Salah, is a co-founder of the American Open University which offers undergraduate and post graduate level education in all fields of the Islamic and Arabic studies for English and Arabic speakers, through distant leaning means. The university expands the base of Islamic knowledge utilization through its virtually unlimited capacity. He also co-founded the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in North America which analyzes and studies different critical jurisprudential issues confronting Muslims in the American society to reach an Islamic verdict. AMJA also holds specialized training sessions for Imams and directors of the Islamic centers in various areas in the United States of America.
